After each feeding, wipe the baby s gums with a clean, damp gauze pad or washcloth. When their teeth begin to erupt, then brush them gently with a child s soft toothbrush and water only.

Do not put a child down for bed with a bottle filled with juice,milk, or formula as these contain sugar. The liquid pools around the teeth while the child sleeps and causes decay. Only use water at nap time.
